Ofcom Accreditation

We believe that our price comparison calculator is accurate, comprehensive, transparent and accessible, and the UK's communications regulator Ofcom agrees!

Broadband.co.uk is proud to be one of eight comparison services in the UK to be awarded Ofcom Accreditation, only four of which compare home broadband.

Price comparison approved by OfcomOfcom is the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries, with responsibilities across television, radio, telecommunications and wireless communications services.

Broadband.co.uk has been supplying broadband price comparisons and information since 2004 and was developed by a small technology-focused company in the East Midlands aiming to present the often complex and technical subject of broadband in a clear and helpful way. As well as providing accurate and comprehensive price comparisons, Broadband.co.uk provides consumers with broadband offers that are specific to their particular postcode. For example, some services offered by LLU operators are often much cheaper to consumers connected to an unbundled exchange.

Under the Ofcom Price Comparison Accreditation scheme, Broadband.co.uk's price comparison availability checker and deal tables were put through a rigorous independent audit.  The audit process checks whether the information provided to consumers is accessible, accurate, transparent, comprehensive and up to date. Ofcom awarded Broadband.co.uk's calculator with accredited status in April of 2010.

Ofcom research shows that 65 per cent of internet users are more likely to shop around if there is information available to calculate the cheapest supplier based on usage and 66 per cent are more likely to trust an accredited price comparison website.
